Learn
about the Autism and Low Incidence Classroom Observation Tool (ALCOT) designed to
improve programming for students with severe disabilities in a two part
professional development series. In part one, participants (preferably supervisors,
coordinators and lead teachers) will learn to use the ALCOT as a way to support
growth of not only students with severe disabilities but also how to support
their teachers in its use. Session will also cover how to develop targets for
improvements in classroom programming. Following day one of training, participants
will be charged with using the ALCOT in the context of a classroom within their
district to construct measurable objectives for teaching staff behavior change.
During part two, the presenter will guide participants through the development
of an implementation plan, the selection of progress monitoring tools, and
strategies for improving implementation. Note: This session is designed for
teacher supervisors, coordinators, and lead teacher though teachers themselves
are also welcome to attend. Session and materials
costs are partially funded through state or federal grants.
