Motor Activities Training Program (MATP) for Students with Significant Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities





Obtain the necessary knowledge and skills to implement the Special Olympics MATP training program. This session is designed for the special education classroom teacher, paraprofessionals and other service providers that provide physical education support to students with the most significant intellectual and developmental disabilities in the classroom. Learn ways to support student participation in a program designed to improve motor skills, develop age appropriate sports skills, build adequate levels of fitness, and engage in group games. Learn how to conduct a culminating Challenge Day patterned after a Special Olympics competition. Session and materials costs are partially funded through state or federal grants.
