During this session, participants will learn how to conduct structured observations of students suspected of having an ASD across settings and how to conduct interviews with students, parents, and other staff members as part of the comprehensive team-based evaluation. Several formalized assessments will be shared during this session that focus on interviewing students including the Autism Diagnostic Interview –Revised (ADI-R). The ADI-R is a comprehensive interview that has proven highly useful for formal diagnosis and educational eligibility as well as treatment and educational planning. The Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule-2 (ADOS-2) considered a “gold standard” autism assessment instrument also has interview questions that can be utilized with students who are verbally fluent. Other formal and informal interviews such as the Childhood Autism Rating Scale -2 Caregiver Parent Questionnaire (CARS-2 CPQ) will be discussed during this training.
Session and materials costs partially funded by federal and state grants.
