Phonological awareness is a critical component to literacy development. It is a foundational skill that helps growing readers understand the structures and sounds of the English language. This course will explore the research and foundational concepts of phonological awareness, high-yield instructional practices, supporting second language learners, and incorporating culturally responsive teaching.
This class is offered over two days utilizing an asynchronous format. The schedule is below:
- Self-Paced independent learning (2 hours) completed prior to September 21st live session
- September 21: Live virtual session (4-6 pm)
- September 22: Live virtual session (4-6 pm)
Participants must complete all sessions to earn a certificate of completion.
