Identification of Significant Disproportionality in 2020 for Special Education: A Facilitated Discussion
Special Education

Join Region 4 ESC for a conversation about the recent letter you received from the Texas Education Agency (TEA, September 9, 2020) on Identification of Significant Disproportionality in 2020. Participants in this session will review the letter and resources provided by TEA, share information on actions, and identify questions inquiring minds want to know. Local Education Agencies (LEA) identified as having SD (Year 3) must:

  1. Review, and if appropriate, revise policies, procedures, and practices,
  2. Reserve the maximum amount of funds to be used for comprehensive coordinated early intervening services (CCEIS), and
  3. Publicly report the revision of any policies, procedures, and practices (examples include, but are not limited to school-board meeting announcements, public notice in the local newspaper, posting on the LEA's webpage, letter to parents, etc.).

Participating in this session is limited to LEAs who received notification from TEA for Identification of Significant Disproportionality in 2020.
