The Science of Teaching Reading: Crash Course for Reading Academy Cohort Leaders (Virtual)

Reading is a complex activity made up of two interdependent processes. A skilled reader combines word recognition and language comprehension to make meaning of text. Years of research have identified the theory and practice of teaching reading. This course will cover the areas identified in the state's Science of Teaching Reading Standards to prepare potential reading academy cohort leaders to take the cohort leader screening.

Important Session Information:

The course is delivered asynchronously through Canvas and virtually via Zoom. Participants will receive Canvas log in information the day the course begins. The required Zoom sessions are:

3/29 - 1:00-3:00

3/30 - 1:00-3:00

3/31 - 1:00-3:00

Zoom sessions are not recorded, so participants must attend all three in order to receive full credit.
