Make learning accessible within physical education settings including adapted physical education (APE) through the use of Universal Design for Learning (UDL). This framework can be used for planning experiences to support student learning across a variety of teaching modalities.
UDL is for ALL students, making your learning environment accessible makes learning better for EVERYONE! This presentation will introduce the practices underpinning UDL for general and adapted physical education teachers offering participants the opportunity to strategize implementing the UDL components of engagement, representation and action and expression. Participants will come away with knowledge and application of UDL principles in the gymnasium that align with F2F and/or remote teaching, as well as tools, ideas and strategies for enhancing students’ learning and participation in physical education.
