Welcome to the Child Abuse, Maltreatment and Human Trafficking course. This is a 1 hour self-paced online course to provide information and resources. The topics of child abuse and human trafficking are imperative for educators and other school staff to remain informed and up to date as they can help to promote awareness and the safety of our students.
As a result of this course, the learner will be able to:
- Identify Texas Legislative Codes as a source of information
- Recognize risk factors for child abuse, maltreatment, and human trafficking
- Identify the legal definitions and signs of child abuse, maltreatment, and human trafficking
- Obtain resources to support Texas school districts and open-enrollment charter schools
This training fulfills HB 403 legislative requirement and associated Commissioner's Rules. Texas school board members will need to take 1 hour of training every 2 years in child abuse, maltreatment, and human trafficking, which this course satisfies. Superintendents will need to take 2.5 hours of training every 5 years, part of which can include this training.
Online sessions require a laptop or desktop computer. Online sessions may not be completed on a tablet or mobile device.
