National Presenter Series for Inclusive Practices (Virtual)
Strategies to Support Struggling K-5 Students in Literacy for Paraprofessionals by Sarah Buxton and Lauren Kolbeck





The National Presenter Series for Inclusive Practices offers participants a unique opportunity to hear some of the leading national experts in education for diverse learners.  Participants will receive information on innovative strategies to support accessibility and proficiency for all learners inclusive of students with disabilities. The trainings support the Texas Teacher Standards and the Domains within the Texas Teacher Evaluation Support System (TTESS).  Join us for this unique and exciting opportunity.


Important Session Information:



This session is intended for special education paraprofessionals. 

Part 1 – Time: 8:30-11:00 AM

Focus: Grades 3-5

Part 1 will provide reading comprehension strategies with a focus on students with learning disabilities in grades 3-5 who support struggling readers in the general education classroom. The participants will learn many strategies to support students with comprehension, critical thinking skills and vocabulary. Participants will study a variety of reading conferences and small group strategy lessons that they can immediately apply in the classroom.

Part 2- Time: 1:00-3:30 PM

Focus: Grades K-2

Part 2 will provide reading strategies with a focus on students with learning disabilities in grades K-2 to support struggling readers in the general education classroom. The participants will learn many strategies to support students with word solving, fluency and comprehension. Participants will study a variety of reading conferences and small group strategy lessons that they can immediately apply in the classroom.
