Evaluating a Student who is DHH for a Specific Learning Disability Including Dyslexia

In this session, we will review the  special considerations for evaluating a student who is currently or is suspected of deaf or hard of hearing (DHH) and the multidisciplinary evaluation team also suspects a specific learning disability including dyslexia. We will discuss recommended evaluation and identification procedures, including exploration of primary and contributory factors, when determining SLD (including dyslexia) in DHH populations.   We will also consider appropriate impact and need statements to write in the student’s full and individual evaluation (FIE) and to be included in  the student’s present levels of academic achievement and functional performance (PLAAFP). Session and materials costs are partially funded through state or federal grants.
