Join our inaugural cohort for an in-depth, comprehensive and practical engagement with the duties, responsibilities and activities that Fine Arts Administrators address. This academy is designed for teachers, principals, new Fine Arts Administrators and anyone interested in learning more about fine arts administration. You do NOT need a Master’s degree or Principal Certificate to participate in this academy.
Whether you are looking for a Fine Arts position, want to assist the current Fine Arts Administrator or just learn more, this Academy will give you the tools you need. Each participant will get an inside view of what a Fine Arts Administrator is responsible for and to whom. We will cover the big responsibilities and focus on the granular, day-to-day tasks as well.
We will meet one day per month from 9am-3pm for seven months. Lunch will be included.
Participants will engage in panel discussions, presentations, collaborations with colleagues, networking, open forum questions, non-graded assignments and self-reflection. Each month we will explore a different facet of Fine Arts Administration. At the conclusion of the Academy, each participant will have accumulated a notebook with examples, handouts and resources that can be referenced in any Fine Arts position.
Major topics to be discussed include: the role and responsibilities of a Fine Arts Administrator, human resource, budget, curriculum, data, expectations, laws, rules, regulations, communication, transportation, facilities and an in-depth look at each of the seven major fine arts disciplines (art, band, choir, dance, elementary music, orchestra and theatre). Fine Arts Administrators are not expected to be subject-matter experts in all seven divisions however, they must be conversant and able to communicate each division's unique needs to district and campus administrators, board members, teachers, parents and students.
