In this workshop, participants will focus on creating lesson plans with attention to communicative tasks. They will explore models, examples, and templates for designing multiple opportunities during each class period for students to use the target language to
communicate messages with others through lesson openings, vocabulary input segments, tasks focused on the modes, and pair and small group tasks. Participants will apply their learning by building out communicative tasks for a variety of purposes for their lessons.
Outcomes: Participants will be able to:
- apply strategies for maintaining a target language classroom,
- plan lesson openings that focus on communication,
- implement strategies for teaching vocabulary in context,
- design communicative tasks aligned to the modes,
- teach vocabulary in context with a focus on communication, and
- design communicative tasks for pairs and small groups.
