Detecting, Confronting, and Replacing Misconceptions in Elementary Science

Explore twelve misconceptions commonly encountered in elementary science. Discuss strategies to anticipate and detect their presence with students. Then work through ideas by creating cognitive dissonance to confront the misconceptions. Finally, see how to replace misconceptions with correct thinking by offering students a choice board of activities that appeals to all learning styles. Participants will receive a printed copy of and digital access to Detecting, Confronting, and Replacing Misconceptions in Elementary Science.
