This training will review the discipline
process for students with disabilities, and the role of assessment professionals
and administrators in the process. Topics will include the legal requirements
for discipline of a student with disabilities, as well as how to conduct a
manifestation determination review (MDR).
Participants will be able to:
(1) Determine whether a student’s
disciplinary removal constitutes a change of placement;
(2) Understand the
procedures for addressing the student’s behavior if the disciplinary
consequence was or was not a change of placement; and
(3) Conduct a sound and
comprehensive manifestation determination review.
