Making Sense of Science Through Writing
Grades 3-12
Share
Support student thinking by providing opportunities to engage in sensemaking through writing in independent, small group, and whole class settings. Connect new thinking to prior knowledge and experiences with recurring themes and concepts. Use the scientific and engineering practices to strengthen explanations, offer and receive feedback, and document changes in thinking over time. Consider implementation actions to help all students contribute to the sensemaking process as they build their writing skills in science.
