Designing Three-Dimensional Science Assessment Tasks (Virtual)

The three-dimensional (3D) science TEKS adopted in 2020/2021 support phenomena-based instruction. However, traditional assessments typically focus only on one dimension—science concepts. How can we design learning tasks that assess all three dimensions: scientific and engineering practices (SEPs), recurring themes and concepts (RTCs), and science ideas? Experience a 3D assessment task, discuss the importance of alignment between TEKS, instruction, and assessment, and explore resources to support the development and implementation of your own 3D assessment tasks.
