Beyond the Word Wall: Unlocking Academic Language for Student Success (Virtual)





Are you struggling to effectively incorporate vocabulary learning in your daily lessons? During this session, we will explore research-based strategies for teaching vocabulary in Social Studies, such as retrieval practice, collaborative learning, spaced learning, and metacognition. Join us as we learn practical tools to deepen students' understanding, retention, and application of academic language, fostering greater success in Social Studies classrooms. 

Each participant will leave the session with the book, Teaching Academic Vocabulary in Social Studies.This research-based pedagogy guide is designed to assist educators in the development of best practices for vocabulary instruction in the social studies classroom.
