This training session fulfills the requirement in 19 TAC §61.1(b)(4) that trustees complete at least three hours of instruction every two years on evaluating student academic performance. For newly elected trustees, state law further requires that at least three hours of orientation to the Texas Education Code be completed within the first 120 days of election or appointment.
This session addresses both requirements by providing a strong foundation in the board’s governance role related to student outcomes. Participants will learn how to set effective student outcome goals, monitor progress toward those goals, and interpret results from state assessment and accountability systems.
By completing this training, trustees—whether newly elected or continuing—strengthen their ability to align district priorities with student success, make informed, data-driven decisions, and uphold their responsibility to ensure equitable opportunities for all students.
