This multi-day professional learning series is designed to equip educators and support staff with proactive, practical strategies for fostering ownership and accountability in student behavior, tailored specifically for learners who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing (DHH).
Participants will explore foundational behavior supports and classroom practices that promote a positive learning environment. The series will cover:
- Universal supports and proactive classroom strategies, including setting clear expectations, enhancing instructional delivery, and managing transitions effectively.
- Early childhood-focused approaches, such as preventive strategies, structured classroom environments, visual routines, and play-based interventions.
- Multisensory and individualized supports, including intensive behavior plans, communication-based behavior strategies, and tools for supporting social-emotional regulation.
Throughout the series, emphasis will be placed on evidence based practices and linguistically responsive practices that honor the communication needs and identities of DHH students.
Materials and resources for this series are paid for using federal and state grants.
