This comprehensive course, brought to you by Erinn Miller, APRN, MSN, FNP-C of Texas Children's Complex Care Clinic, is designed for both licensed school nurses and unlicensed school personnel who support students with complex medical needs in the public school setting. Participants will gain essential knowledge and skills to confidently and safely assist with specialized healthcare procedures including tracheostomy care and suctioning, urinary catheterization, and gastrostomy tube (G-tube) feedings.
The session will review legal guidelines for delegation under the Texas Nurse Practice Act, documentation standards, infection control, recognizing complications, and communication strategies between caregivers, nurses, and families. This training supports safe, team-based care and ensures compliance with state and district protocols.
This course has a minimum of 10 required or the session may be cancelled due to low enrollment.
