How do we ensure every ELA lesson sparks deep student learning? This professional development cohort guides high school English Language Arts teachers through a focused process that elevates instructional preparation and student outcomes. The core of the training is to ground educators in the standards, shift from planning to internalization, and move from merely covering content to truly mastering the instructional vision for a unit.
Key modules include an Overview of Unit and Lesson Internalization, strategies for Going Deeper into powerful Student Discourse and Engagement, and Evidence-Based Writing support. A critical component is Embedded Support, equipping teachers with practical, targeted scaffolding strategies for Emergent Bilingual (EB) and Special Education (SPED) students. By putting it into practice collaboratively, participants will leave with the confidence and skills to create a rigorous ELA learning environment and tools and strategies to support STAAR success.
