Order in the Boardroom: Leading Effective School Board Meetings

Effective governance begins with effective meetings. In this engaging session designed for school board trustees, participants will explore how to lead with confidence, clarity, and collaboration in the boardroom. The session provides a practical overview of Robert’s Rules of Order and goes beyond procedure to examine best practices in meeting management, trustee interaction, and decision-making processes that keep student outcomes at the forefront. Participants will also learn proven strategies for agenda design, board dynamics, and community engagement to promote productive, student-focused meetings.

Aligned with the Texas Framework for School Board Development, this session strengthens trustee competencies in Teamwork, Governance, Policy, and Advocacy. Trustees will leave equipped with practical tools and strategies to foster transparency, ensure orderly deliberation, and lead meetings that are purposeful, efficient, and impactful.
