Child Nutrition Summer Workshop - 2019
This workshop is open to School Nutrition Professionals and Nutrition Staff Members.  A variety of sessions will be offered to provide continuing education relevant to fulfill the Professional Standards annual training hour requirements.  Professional Standards for school nutrition professionals and nutrition staff members is key to the provision of the "Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010 (HHFKA). The final rule, published March 2, 2015."

As stated in the Child Nutrition Reauthorization Act of 2004, each local education agency participating in the National School Lunch, Breakfast and Snack Program shall establish a local School Wellness Policy. This Policy and Plan must be in place by May 15, 2006. To assist our Districts with the development of this Policy, the Child Nutrition Department is offering a Wellness Policy Workshop. This 3 hour workshop will provide training, information and resources necessary to develop, implement and measure a local wellness policy. A template for developing this policy has been provided by Texas Association of School Boards and will be distributed at the workshop.
