The Essentials of Science Day 2: Planning a Curriculum of Essentials
STMs Only
Share
Over the last century, U.S. science classes have consistently relied on lectures, textbooks, rote memorization, and lab demonstrations. Faced with a welter of science standards, the three-stage process of backward design of curriculum can help science educators target and delve deeply into big ideas to help their students gain deeper conceptual understandings within the branches of science. Focused planning also enables districts to better articulate learning objectives across grade levels.
