Research on Principles and Standards: Classroom and Large Scale Assessment
Share
A growing body of research evidence supports the ideas set forth in NCTM's "Assessment Standards." More important, researchers and teachers are learning more about the most effective ways to meet those standards. Formative assessment in the classroom, which depends on teachers gathering evidence from multiple sources and then acting on that evidence, can be one of the most powerful forces for learning. Listening to students, asking them good questions, and giving them the opportunity to show what they know in a variety of ways are all affirmed by research to be important ways to increase student learning.
