Formative Assessment Lessons Day 1: Processing and Understanding
Grade K-5

Assessment is a big word that has a large net and can look many different ways in a classroom.  Two of the most common types of assessment are formative and summative. During the first day of the two day training, the difference between the two forms of assessment will be defined through in-depth peer and whole group discussions.  Activities will have the participants out of their seats and engaged in completing a formative assessment lesson from beginning to end.  The lesson will be explored through both the students' perspective along with the educators'.  By the end of the session, teachers will walk away with ready made formative assessment instruction to implement in their classrooms.
