Formative Assessment Lessons Day 2: Applying and Assessing
Grade K-5

Students need and crave appropriate feedback from their teacher and peers while learning. They also need to have time to collaborate and take ownership of the instruction occurring. Looking at where the learner is going, is currently, and how they will get to the intended goal makes a powerful impact on the learning process.  During the second session, participants will practice and interpret formative assessment lessons that will focus on the three key processes of a formative assessment lesson. In addition, three roles will be explored, the teacher, the peer, and the individual student. Upon leaving this session, educators will feel confident in the procedures for completing a successful formative assessment lesson with their students. Through empowering and engaging activities, students are pushed to think about their mathematical language, knowledge, and ownership when completing mathematical tasks.
