Foundations of Computer Science for Teachers Day 3: Loops and Recursion

The third lesson, loops and recursion, will have participants think of two things at all times.  A hula hoop or any other circular object is the first mental image that needs to stay in the mind of the learner.  The reason for this is because when creating a loop in code, the teacher is making a set of actions that will after starting, occur repeatedly once the end of the directive is reached.  Thus, the beginning of the loop will happen again and again.  The second item to remember at all times is that if something acts as a what if case, it will always have to resolve.  This in turn is a conditional statement and the idea of recursion comes into play.  When programming, the topics of this session happen often.  Learning how and when to properly navigate each idea can make a huge difference.
