STAAR Writing-Expository Scoring Swap (Grade 9)




Bring your students' STAAR expository writing papers and participate in a scoring swap! This session will review the scoring requirements for the STAAR expository essay, and then allow participants to score students' papers and have others score their students' papers for a wider perspective on students' abilities. See additional notes for the writing prompt.

On the fourth Saturday in October, everyone is encouraged to gather with friends and neighbors to help fill a need in their community. Millions of Americans participate every year.

Write an essay explaining one way that people can work together to make a difference.

Be sure to 

 - clearly state your thesis

 - organize and develop your ideas effectively

 - choose your words carefully l edit your writing for grammar, mechanics, and spelling
