Teaching Student Centered Mathematics Day 2: Strategies and Activities
3-5
Share
There are four core ideas for effective mathematics teaching: knowledge of how children learn, an explanation of teaching mathematics through problem solving, suggestions for planning student-centered lessons, and strategies for assessment in a student-centered environment. Participants will learn how to plan instruction around the "big ideas" rather than individual skills or concepts. Problem-based activities that center around number sense, place value, computation strategies, geometric thinking, measurement, fractions, algebraic reasoning, and data analysis will be explored.
