Promoting Positive Behaviors for Student Success: A Seminar for Paraprofessional Educators

Paraprofessional support can be helpful for both teachers and students when considering behaviors which may impede the learning environment. Many times we tend to be reactive instead of proactive when managing student’s behaviors.

This seminar will guide participants through exploring the reasons students are motivated to engage in undesirable behavior, how to apply preventative principles to decrease the need for redirection, and consider various ways to reinforce as well as redirect students with challenging behaviors. Paraprofessionals will gain an understanding of the differences between under-supporting and over-supporting, how to fade proximity, and how to foster student independence.
