Algebra Problem Strings Day 2: Function Mania
Algebra I

Systems of Equations, Exponential and Quadratic Functions, and Models make up a large chunk of Algebra I curriculum.  On top of the vastness that these topics contain, students tend to muddle their way through without really connecting to the mathematics.  During this session, teachers will explore these tough areas and learn how to get students talking through the math and make a genuine connection to their own learning.  Not only will students learn how to look at their own processes, but they will learn how to listen to others' point of view and reasoning as well.  By learning algebra in problem strings, participants will be able to help their students learn how to scaffold their instruction for their classroom and help students to become excited about math.  The great thing in the end is that teachers will feel the rigor that their classrooms need to have while feeling empowered and wanting more.
