Pam Harris' Building Powerful Numeracy for Middle and High School Students brought the world of research on numeracy at the elementary level to the secondary level, helping teachers build numeracy in their students and showing how that work supports students in understanding higher math. Lessons and Activities for Building Powerful Numeracy, continues to help teachers build numeracy through two types of activities; Student Workouts and Teacher Directed Activities. Day 1 will focus on Student Workouts. Student Workouts are activities that students can work on independently or in pairs and are followed by robust class discussions to promote understanding of the ideas.
