Math Dance: Whole Body Math and Movement Activties

Studies show that the more that students interact with a topic the better they retain the information learned.  Also, the first stages of learning a new concept is with manipulatives and hands-on practice.  By incorporating movement into the learning process, students receive the conceptual understanding that they craved and needed in order to understand a concept physically, mentally, and emotionally.  Not all students learn in the more traditional style and by giving them an outlet of learning that is energetic and relate-able, they feel more connected with the necessary learning.  Participants in this session will learn engaging activities that will supplement the already great lessons that they already have with their students.  Teachers will use the research gained from experts in the field of pulling movement into the math classroom and will walk away with a student's perspective of Math Dance and a resource that can be used in their classrooms.
