This online course is a new, innovative way of implementing School Bus Driver Training Recertification. This course will provide the 8-hour state-mandated Recertification Training required for all school bus drivers every three years. The purpose of this training is to reduce the injury/death of school age students while being transported to and from school and on school sponsored trips.
Since you have chosen to take this course online you are able to log-in and learn the material at your convenience. You will also benefit by being exposed to our fun discussion forums, videos and additional educational information. This course will be facilitated by certified School Bus Driver Trainers.
IMPORTANT: If you are registering a school bus driver for this course, please ensure that the registered participant is aware of the information listed below and the course requirements.
DPS Requirements:
1) As a participant, you must log a minimum of 8-clock-hours in the course in addition to completing all of the coursework. Your time is recorded in the online course, so all coursework, including reading material, must be completed while logged into the online course. Time spent in the course will be verified by the Instructor.
2) The Post-Test must be proctored by someone in your Transportation Department or a School District Administrator.
3) The above requirements must be met in no more than 14 calendar days from the time the course link is emailed to you.
4) Failure to complete these requirements will result in the participant having to retake the 8-hour Recertification Course.
Eligible Drivers:
1) Current Certification or Recertification expires no more than 6 months from the date that you will complete the online course.
2) Most recent Certification or Recertification expired no more than 1 year prior to the date that you will complete the online course.
3) Not currently on an Enrollment.
Technology Requirements:
1) PC preferred
2) High speed internet is recommended. If using dial-up or lower-band internet, participants will have trouble viewing the videos.
3) Adobe Reader (free download)
4) Web browser must be up-to-date
Upon successful completion of this course drivers will receive a Texas School Bus Driver Safety Training Certificate within 2 business days. This will be emailed to your Transportation Department.
