Best Practices in the Evaluation and Identification of Emotional Disturbance (ED)

This session will cover “best practices” in the evaluation of students suspected of having Emotional Disturbance (ED). Participants will learn how to rule out Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and/or another Special Education eligibility as part of the ED evaluation process.
School-based teams will learn how to use a specifically designed
checklist as part of the decision-making process for identifying students as ED.
Additionally, r
ecent court case decisions related to the identification of students with ED will be discussed as these cases impact the ED evaluation process.
