Child Nutrition: Farm Fresh Challenge

Join us to learn the how and when to participate on the Farm Fresh Challenge! The Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) Farm Fresh Challenge is part of the Farm Fresh Initiative, a comprehensive effort that helps Texans establish lifelong healthy habits and supports local farmers, ranchers and economies. Since 2013, the challenge has recognized schools that include more local foods in meals and snacks and provide lessons about Texas agriculture. CEs who take the Farm Fresh Challenge will receive recognition for purchasing local foods, providing educational opportunities, and outreach that celebrates Farm Fresh Fridays. Taking the challenge helps boost local economies and encourages positive engagement with parents and families. Participating in the Farm Fresh Challenge is easier than you may think, as some of the food options you're already serving in the cafeteria like milk and meat products are likely locally sourced from Texas producers, which means you’ve already completed some of the Challenge requirements before you ever pledge. Programs to participate are SNP, CACFP, SFSP/SSO.

Important Session Information:

This session will be available to attend at the Education Service Center Region 6 in Huntsville, as well as via Distance Learning (DL) or mobile device. If you are planning to view via DL or mobile device indicate this during registration by selecting "Participant via Distance Learning". Registered participants can join 30 minutes before each session begins. Participants will not be allowed to join the session 15 minutes after the session begins.
