Why should districts conduct team-based evaluations for identifying students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)? Who should be on the multidisciplinary assessment team? What are the racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic disparities in the determination, diagnosis, and behavioral profiles of students with ASD? What are some of the appropriate measures for conducting a team-based evaluation of a student suspected of having an ASD?
Participants in this two day workshop will be able to answer these questions as well as learn about:
- Standard tools for eligibility assessment (cognitive; academic; achievement; adaptive behavior; speech and language; behavior)
- Autism specific tools, including screeners and rating scales such as ADOS-2 and ADI-R.
- Additional evaluations that may be necessary including Occupational Therapy (OT), Physical Therapy (PT), or Assistive Technology (AT).
This training is designed to assist district ASD evaluation teams. In order to maximize learning and assistance, districts should plan to send at least 3 members of their multidisciplinary ASD team.
