Mathematics Achievement Academy Kindergarten and Grade 1
Day 3 of 3




In the Mathematics Achievement Academy for K-1, participants will:

• examine the K-1TEKS based on learning progressions and critical checkpoints for understanding;

• experience classroom-ready activities, including formative assessment and follow-up activities that account for learner variability;

• build a toolkit of strategies and key questions through analysis of activities for students with disabilities, English language learners, students struggling to learn mathematics, and gifted learners; and

• explore structures that provide opportunities for meaningful practice and feedback.

Through hands-on activities focusing on whole number operations and fraction concepts, these trainings are designed to strengthen participants' knowledge of mathematics' concepts and processes, improve overall mathematics instruction, and lead to student success on statewide assessments and p

Teacher Eligibility Requirements to receive a $350 stipend.:

  • Any teacher may attend with preferential registration being given to those on the priority list. 
  • Teachers must be assigned to teach the grade level and subject of the academy they attend.
  • The registrant should not have attended an academy previously for the same grade and subject.

Teachers must bring their unique ID number to complete the stipend form. Directions for locating this are provided on the TEA website listed below.

NOTE: An administrator, instructional coach, curriculum specialist, or other instructional leader may attend an academy if space is available and eligible teachers are not displaced. These individuals must commit to attending all day of each of the three days the academy is offered. These individuals are not eligible for a stipend.
