Reading Strategies for Struggling Learners




This fun and engaging training presented by Shari Zimmer, Reading Specialist for Really Great Reading, will provide participants with a comprehensive set of tools to diagnose, group and teach students with weaknesses in foundational reading skills. Participants will learn how to:

  • incorporate functional strategies to read and spell multisyllabic words
  • build skills in phonemic awareness and phonics
  • understand the link between decoding skills, fluency and comprehension
  • implement a systematic approach to improve achievement of struggling readers

Each participant will receive a Really Great Reading "Student Phonics Kit for Reading and Spelling" along with evidence-based, interactive, explicit, structured and multisensory strategies that can be implemented with all students.
