Helping to Build the Village: In-Home/Parent Training Basics




It takes a village to raise a student with special needs. Help build the village by learning more about In-Home/Parent training options. Understanding the differences between parent-family training and in-home/community training can be a little confusing. Participants will learn strategies to assist Admission, Review and Dismissal (A.R.D.) committees address the following:

  • Determine training needs
  • Explore various methodologies to support training decisions
  • Consider ethical situations
  • Acquire communication do's and don'ts while working with families.

Important Session Information:


This is an interactive and hands-on event. Attendees will have opportunity to participate in a "Make and Take" session to create the tools discussed for the purpose of in-home or parent training supports.
