Principles to Actions: Ensuring Mathematical Success for All

Standards alone--no matter their origins, authorship, or the process by which they were developed--will not realize the high levels of mathematical understanding by all students.  More is needed than standards.  This session will describe the conditions, structures, and policies that must exist for all students to learn.  These are known as the eight mathematics teaching practices.  Participants will learn how to write their student goals and objectives with not only a specific intent, but also a clear path onto which they will teach said objectives and obstacles that arise with instruction.  Successful students have the opportunity during the learning time to experience productive struggle.  Principles to Action helps to guide teachers down the mathematics educational path that students need to experience productive struggle and success.
