Advancing Educational Leadership (AEL)




Advancing Educational Leadership (AEL) is a three-day training for principals and teacher appraisers.  AEL replaces Instructional Leadership Development (ILD) and is the new co-requisite for the commissioner’s recommended teacher appraisal system, Texas Teacher Evaluation and Support System (T-TESS). The goals of AEL include: to creating a positive school culture using team building, effective conferencing and conflict resolution skills; to establish and sustain a campus mission and vision through goal setting and effective communication; to develop others through coaching, mentoring, conferencing, team building and conflict resolution; to examine the leader’s role in improving instruction by connecting curriculum, instruction, and assessments to student outcomes; and to collect and use multiple sources of data to create a positive school environment of learning and high achievement.
