The Power of Patty Paper

The first step to being successful in a math task is understanding it at the conceptual level. Too many times are students asked to jump straight to memorization, step-by-step processes, or algorithms without being given the chance to play with the mathematics to make discoveries of their own. Patty paper helps teachers and students make the connections necessary for correct critical thinking and problem solving. In this session, participants will explore everything from addition, subtraction, fractions, decimals, percents, angles, to transformations of all kinds with this magical paper. Learning how to incorporate it into daily classroom use is essential and can only help students as they learn how to use it for their STAAR exam. Teachers will enjoy the hands-on activities that will transform the classroom.
