Foundations of Teaching Students with Autism and Other Significant Support Needs After COVID-19
Session 1: Foundations of Applied Behavior Analysis in the Special Education Classroom




This workshop series will review evidence-based practices for learners with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and other significant needs, providing attendees with tools and strategies to employ in the coming school year and beyond. Each workshop will also discuss each topic as it relates to supporting students in a successful return to the school setting after the COVID 19 pandemic experience.

Workshop topics will include:

  • Foundations of Behavior Analysis
  • Data Collection
  • Communication
  • Planning and Implementing Group Instruction

Attendees will learn about the benefits of specific practices, the process of planning for, teaching, and incorporating these practices across learning environments, and have opportunities to apply each workshop's topic to their own classrooms.

 


Important Session Information:


This is the first session in a series of four web-based professional developments designed to prepare educators for returning to school after the COVID 19 pandemic experience. This session will include a focus on the foundations of behavior analysis in the special education classroom. 

Attendees will review evidence-based practices for learners with ASD and other significant needs, and learn about the benefits of specific practices, the process of planning for, teaching and incorporating these practices across learning environments, and have opportunities to apply each workshop's topic to their own classrooms.
