Child Nutrition: Counting Reimbursable Meals

This course teaches the importance of accurate system for counting meals at serving sites prior to the submission of the monthly claim for reimbursement. The basics of efficiently operating and utilizing a Point of Sale (POS) system will be reviewed. Topics for this course include coding and counting methods, offer versus serve, confidentiality, internal controls and record keeping.

This class teaches the importance of counting, collecting and claiming procedures based on student eligibility, and how they relate to filing claims for reimbursement. Various mediums of exchange and the acceptable methods for coding them will be reviewed. A daily record of edit checks and Accuclaim will also be reviewed.
