Linking Assessment Results to Interventions
How to Tailor Interventions for Students with Learning Difficulties and Disabilities

School evaluators are tasked with addressing the unique learning needs of students with specific learning disabilities (SLD) and students with learning difficulties. Numerous evaluators struggle to find interventions that meet students’ learning needs due to a lack of training on how to address students’ cognitive weaknesses when developing interventions. Therefore, this workshop will provide evaluation personal with the resources needed for adding quality evidence-based interventions to the Full and Individualized Evaluation (FIE).

Important Session Information:

To facilitate the process of linking assessment findings to interventions, Region 6 welcomes Dr. Dawn Flanagan as she will guide participants on her new tool: Intervention Library: Finding Interventions and Resources for Students and Teachers (IL:FIRST®).  The Intervention Library is a compilation of over 1000 entries that are uniquely organized into six categories, including Instructional, Environmental, Curricular, Skill-Building Techniques, Remediation Programs, and Compensatory Strategies. A wide variety of interventions are included in each of these categories to address students’ unique learning needs across ten cognitive abilities and processes and the eight academic areas listed in the Individual with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). The goal of the Intervention Library is to assist evaluation personal in tailoring interventions to facilitate positive outcomes for our students.
