Inclusive Education: Simple, Not Easy

Based on over 40 years of research, development, and practice in inclusive education, this session summarizes several of the key lessons learned about successfully including and educating students with the full range of disabilities in chronologically age-appropriate general education classrooms. The session includes some philosophical foundation, followed by definitional elements of inclusive education, and four key pillars. These include access to inclusive environments, meaningful curriculum, effective instruction, and necessary supports (e.g., paraprofessional and related services issues and practices).
