Social-Emotional Evaluations
Examining the Big Picture of a Social-Emotional Evaluation

Taking a team approach to developing evidence-based practices for social-emotional evaluations which includes autism spectrum disorder and emotional disturbance eligibility is the focus of this training. When completing a social-emotional evaluation for an Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) eligibility the Licensed Specialists in School Psychology (LSSP) must work with school-based personnel and families to ensure the evaluation is comprised of a variety of educational and sociological information and take into account students’ cultural, linguistic, and environmental factors.

Important Session Information:

By looking at multi-sources of data, the LSSP will gain knowledge on how to incorporate this data into the formal social-emotional testing to ensure quality identification of the criteria of an autism spectrum disorder or an emotional disturbance. In addition, the training will examine how to tease out the effects of an attention-deficit hyperactive disorder when examining the social-emotional components of the evaluation. The presenter will provide case study examples to close out the session.
