Components of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA)
It is a line! The Individual Education Program (IEP) Process from Referral to Evaluation to Admission Review and Dismissal (ARD): Examining Why This Line Needs to be Followed

The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) is a federal law that ensures children who have an eligible disability receive free appropriate public education that includes special education and related services. The purpose of IDEA is to ensure support for positive outcomes for children with disabilities. Therefore, it is imperative that all stakeholders collaborate to ensure that special education students are provided with an individual education program (IEP).

Important Session Information:

The Individual Education Program (IEP) is a process that starts with a referral that moves into a comprehensive evaluation and then moves to the Admission Review Dismissal (ARD) committee. The ARD committee creates a program that includes specially designed instruction to assure students have access to the general education curriculum in the least restrictive environment. In this session, Dr. Gomez will provide participants with guidance on how to ensure that the process is aligned from the beginning to the end and legally why it is imperative that this process be followed.
